Storing a Fuel Tank

I've gone back to my Roadster set up. I had stored the Roadster tank for a couple of years in my garage. Condensation had caused surface rusting inside the tank. Now I will be storing my Interstate tank, I'd like to prevent any damage.

Has anyone found a way that works to keep rust away from a tank stored long term in an unheated garage, which is prone to condensation? My wife has already ruled out keeping it in my wardrobe. :)
 
Store it in a heated part of the house like I do to my roadster tank. I put it on a shelf in my laundry room wrapped in that foam packaging wrap so it doesn't get dinged by the occasion rummaging around in there...
 
We have a happy truce. Her animals and feed stay outside, so does anything (non-clothing) for my motorbikes. Storage in the house is likely to open a can of worms, possibly literally. :)

The floor of the house attic is heavily insulated, so in winter, it gets as cold as my garage attic, where I'll store the tank.

The oil suggestion was where I was headed. I was thinking 2T, as it would be easy to get it coated all over the inner skin, or ACF50, more difficult to get everything coated, but would probably stay on the surface without needing to dig the tank out and repeat every few months.
 
Wait a few weeks, then put it in a box in the wardrobe and mark it “Tank tops” :D

But failing that, I would do what other’s suggested oil, and plastic bag, but additionally I would place one of those dehumidifier block thingys in the bag with the tank, then seal it up.
 
I have read in the past that it's best to store a tank upside down,no filler cap or taps
 
Buy a 1Kg of silica gel and put that in a bin bag with the tank. It isn't expensive from ebay or Amazon.

I stored my entire bike in an unheated garage for 30 years with about 4Kg of silica gel and a home-made tailored plastic cover, and it came out pretty much unscathed. Now that I've started using the bike I'm keeping it in that same garage and the alloy is showing some corrosion that I'll have to polish out.

Put it in your wife's wardrobe, just not too close to her lingerie. Honey what is that perfume you're wearing? Eu du toilet or E10?;)

Yes, dessicant and perhaps use one of those storage bags that have a port to extract the air.
