Hello, I have a 1970 750 Commando with the stock Amals. Can someone please let me know what the settings should be for proper idle ?

You should have both R930/46 and L930/47 (Right /Left) Main Jet 180...Slide #3...) Position on Needle #2... and a #106 on the pilot jet.
That’s if the bike is in original state and in good mechanical order with Amal slides and body which are not worn out.
Turn idle screw all the way home then back out 1 1/2 turns which would be a good starting point to run engine. Go from there and use the search on this forum to find more info.
Best of luck.

Thanks guys . I will check that info and log it. I have the settings good at this point, but the bike behaves strange, when I rev the bike the RPMS take a little while to drop back down to idle. I think that the carbs could be sticky from old gas sitting in them for a few years that I did not ride the bike. I will clean the slides and report back. The good news is that I was able to take the bike on a short ride and it reminded me why I love these bikes : )

Sounds like you have a sticky slide. Pull off your tank and take the tops off the Amals and pull the slides out and give them a scuff with a piece of scotchbrite. Stick them back in to see if this problem is solved. Change your gas in your tank if it’s old. If you have any ethanol gas that is older than 3/4 of a year, chances are it’s pooched! Get it out and start with new. Hope that will help. Good riding.
