Guys,

Finally reassembling my Commando and after pressing in my top triple and bearings I realized that the nut that threads onto the bottom will not thread onto the pin threads. I don't know if my powdercoater damaged the threads with the heat treating (highly unlikely) or it was dropped or perhaps I damaged it even though I used a rubber mallet to punch it out. Whatever the case I need to chase the threads and try to straighten them out.

Anyone know the size threading on that pin? it's a 7/8ths correct? just need thread size.

thanks!

The thread is large enough and coarse enough that you should be able to see where the damage is,
and just file it out. Probably with a triangular file, since it will reach down into the 'valleys'.

Is there any powdercoat down in the threads ?
That would stop things ....
hth.
