my 750 is missing the stator cap. is it difficult to come by? the nearest centre to me in Vancouver, Canada.

Do you mean the grommet in the inner chaincase that the wires exit through?

Do you mean the points cover by any chance? Nothing to do with the stator of course, just a thought!

Dave.

I wished people would put where they are from under their avatar.
It could be a regional thing don't you know, eh?

that sounds more like it.. points cover.. lower right hand side?

I will also take this opportunity to also answer e-mail.

Yes, it is the "contact breaker" or "points" cover for the ignition system. The electrical "generator" or "alternator" (rotor and stator) is inside the primary case on the left hand side of the engine.

The 061087 cover (and screws) should be available from any good Andover Norton genuine parts supplier, and is the same for all year models with "camshaft" driven contact breaker assembly.

The original twin contact breakers and auto advance assembly may have been replaced with an electronic ignition rotor and pickup plate? In your e-mail you mention that something is hanging loose so perhaps we need more information about that?

Please note that the cover shown in my avatar is a special item intended for Lucas RITA electronic ignition because the RITA pickup does not fit under the standard Commando cover.
