These chome body taps are the taps I have now. I also have problems with the reserve tap circlip :?
The brass taps either leak or seize.
The only issue I have had with these later taps is if you don't use the bike for a while they seem to tighten up a little. I even found the lever bent a little once in the dead of winter, on switching on.

Careful inspection of mine revealed that a PO had bent the body a bit, probably wrenching the tap off the tank. I carefully massaged it back into a nice round shape, and the new circlip stays nicely in place now.

I haven't had any issues with the tap leaking or sticking, but the bike rarely goes for more than two or three days without running.
