Starter drive idler gear replacement

Remove the (sliding fit?) idler gear spindle '4' from the starter motor housing side of the inner case.

Grip it with your fingers or pliers and pull it out.
Edit: Or, if tight, screw a bolt into the (1/4" UNF) internal thread and pull it out using that. Heat the case if necessary.
