Hi,

Actually Max is still alive and kicking working in our engine build department. He is a Ducati master technician and has a great CV so when we interviewed him we thought we'd give him a run at warranty but he seems much happier helping us building 200bhp V4 motors so happy days for everyone involved!

That’s good news!

Your gain is very much Norton’s loss!

Had a nice ride out today on my 961, I love it. What SG has done bringing back Norton, investing in new models, doing the TT and all these things is nothing short of incredible. Yes if you google you can find some negative stuff but hey, are we lucky or what having this iconic brand living/breathing. A couple of warranty issues along the way but all fixed and no complaints from me about the service.

I just heard he’s gone to Indian. Someone called Carmen is now dealing with warranty and parts.
It was Rob that went to “Indian”,he was there 4 years & left on good terms as far as I’m aware to develop his career, people do move around more these days & often return.

I follow the triumph speed twin forum. And don’t think for a second those guys have a flawless bike. I constantly hear about parts falling off or issues with build quality. This is a bike that’s shared with the complete bonnie line of bikes that’s been around for years.

I’m happy with my norton. Not to mention I don’t ever see a norton in my neck of the woods. When I went to the 10th annual Ton up show here in Michigan in aug, I was the only one with a 961. Everyone was in awe of my bike and I was constantly asked questions about it. Can’t say that about any other modern classic bike.

Scott,
Many new bikes have issues regardless of manufacturer, there are many who would raise an eyebrow at Fast Eddie acquiring a Ducati (they don’t work in the rain - the electrics are rubbish etc.) My Speed Twin had a minor issue with gear change, the issue for a lot of people is the availability of dealers and the support from said manufacturer when things go wrong.
For me, I contacted Triumph and explained that the bike would not always change down when slowing for junctions, I was asked if I wanted it collected that day, I took it to them. They found a loose connection on the gear cable linkage and fixed immediately. I was called the next day and asked if everything was still ok, if not just bring it back and take one of our loan bikes while we fix it - that could be the difference?
As Tony says, great pics.

That’s my point though.
Everything man made and sold is bound to have issues. It’s impossible not to.
But norton isn’t a big wide spread network like Triumph, Honda, Ducati etc.

Yes Carmen is your warranty contact. She is really good but very busy so just apply a modicum of patience when communicating. I received my replacement silencer on the basis of a few photo's showing the problem, I have yet to send back the failed silencer so she will be waiting on me longer than I had to wait for her :)

Does anyone know the Norton contact for service and warranty work please. Have emailed Norton HQ on the info number three times over the past several days but no reply. Perhaps they prefer a good old fashioned phone call.
