SRM oil system 'upgrades'?

The geared Morgo pump used on Triumphs works well on racing bikes but on street bikes its overkill, too much oil being pumped just gets bypassed by the pressure release valve and heats the oil. On a Triumph you have to increase the hole side on the relief route to allow the extra oil to get away fast enough. Much the same would happen in an over pumped Norton.

I fitted one to a highly tuned Triumph once, against the advice of my sponsor / mentor. It was a good move and had the unexpected benefit of curing a overheating problem I had.
So I don't quite agree that all that extra oil, even that dumped by the PRV is wasted, it is at least more cooling.
However I do agree that it is unnecessary on an untuned street bike.
