Hi Lads,

Just a bit of feedback.

With a lot of advice/help from this forum I now have a fully functioning ES on my MK3. Cost a fortune but what doesn't when you own a Norton

During my rebuild the primary cover got damaged installing the gear selector bush, had to get a new one from Norvil :x

Had the bike out today for a spin, bike is running great BUT lots of white smoke from the RH exhaust  Looks like its burning oil, did a compression test & everything is fine, must be a guide or a inlet seal!!! Smokes a lot on tickover/blipping throttle, can't see any smoke when I'm riding along.

Tempted to run it like this for the summer and take the head off over the winter.

I used the rope in the spark plug trick to lock the engine up so I could get the rotor nut on/off. Could this same method be used to check the valves/guides/seals?

If the rope is up tight against the valves could you remove the spring collar? Anybody try this? I know ludwig posted this: post76177.html?hilit=ludwig

My idea is to use the rope instead of the tool ludwig made?

So I'm happy all the work on the starter worked but sad to see smoke from the exhaust!!

Kevin
