Hi
I currently have a Norton Commando 850 Roadster that is fitted with the Alton electric start kit and while changing the primary oil i noticed a very slack Sprag clutch chain.
Having no experience with these kits as it was already fitted to the bike, I'm wondering is someone has a guide they can post to help me work through replacing the chain. I'm aware there's better more robust chains around.

Thanks for any help.
Neil

There's a good 'Mighty Garage' set of YouTube videos on installing the Alton kit in a Commando, worth a run through, to understand what you have and how to deal with the chain. IIRC, there's also installation footage on the Alton site.

Hi Neil, If you contact Jason (jason@the-chain-man.co.uk) they have a 52 pin heavy duty IWIS that fits and is much stronger than the OE supplied chain. You might find that the pins touch the stator mounting plate slightly, so you need to relieve it a bit with a file.

I would strongly advise using a Bellville washer under the PTO nut which hold the sprag assemble. Several posts on here if you search.
