Hallo all,
I'm rebuilding a T140V year 73 and am trying to split the cases with no results. It seems they have been sealed with silicon as per the rest of the engine.
All fastners are removed and no metal tube is present in the foremost mounting. I am simply going potty trying to separate them without damage.
My next move is to dash into the building market and buy gasket remover to see if that will weaken their grips.
Does anybody have ideas which could help, they would be much appreciated.

Factory tool.

Hey super L.A.B. That looks great. Probably what you mean too Fast Eddie.

Many thanks

Although the drive-side bearing is a two-piece roller it sometimes proves difficult to separate when splitting the cases (the inner race and rollers should come out with the crank).
The crank should also be a reasonably tight fit in the timing-side (ball)* bearing so the crank usually has to be extracted from it (unless the case is heated so the T/S bearing comes out with the crank).

*(Late T140 models had a roller T/S bearing)

Sorry, I think I was right the first time. It is a two-piece bearing.

Yessir, that’s what I was trying to describe (in another post).

I didn’t realise it was a factory tool though! Great drawing LAB, makes it very clear.
