What is the difference between these two cups? Norton Commando instrument casing speedometer tach 06-0510 and 06-0484.
they look Identical. I have the 70 Roadster and only one cup with 06-0484 and that is what the parts catalogue says for 1969-70.

06-0484 is a 'casting' or 'foundry' number, so although it appears on the part, it isn't the actual part number of the finished item. The only "Instrument case" I can find listed in the '68-'70 parts book for both speedo and tach. is 06-0510.

Yes I see now in the 68-70 parts catalogue the correct number. 06-0510
I was sure I saw the other number some where. So are you saying both pieces are correct for that year but have different casting numbers?

What I'm saying is there's only one piece.

06-0484 was the original casting number, but 06-0510 is the actual Norton part number as listed in the parts book for that particular component.

Here is my dilemma. I have both. I would like to know which one came with the 1970 Roadster.
speedo/tach casing or cup

speedo/tach casing or cup

I screwed up the first pair I bought on ebay. They were for the latter models and had to resell those ones
thanks in advance,

If no definite answer soon I'd call my main factory parts mentors, major Brit Iron cycle vendors, &or get a matching mate and live with the factory issue part mystery while keeping the possible sin=stain=missed mark to myself.

As you said previously, they look identical.

As far as I'm aware, (and what's listed in the parts books) there were only two types, the 'short' alloy 06-0510 type, as used from '68 - '72, and the 'long' black 06-4144 type, fitted from '73-on.

060510 INSTRUMENT CASE, SHALLOW £ 33.80
found 0 item(s) in the parts list matching 060484

On my '70 I have two of the 06-0484 cups but the number is on the top of one and on the bottom of the other. In my spares bin there is an 06-0510 cup with the number on the top.

There must have been several molds for these pieces, obviously some used a casting number and some used the part number. You just need to figure out which molds were used when your bike was built... It maybe that any combination of the three is correct.

I just received the pair in the mail today. Both holders have the 06-0484 markings on the bottom and those are the 2 I'm going with. I have an extra 06-0510 if any one is looking for one. I have $37 tied up into it.
I found one German parts distributor that has the 06-0510 holder listed as the one used on the latter 71 models.
thank you all for your in put.
I have most of the parts now to start cleaning, buffing, painting and reassembling. Picking up the welded frame tonight.
