Speedo stopped working

Ok so i havnt quite managed to get away with it, took bike out today to check speedo and everything seems fine up to about 40, then it seems to lag a bit, like when it showed 50 it was more like70 and so on ,is there anything i can do myself to correct this or do i need to send it to the professionals

Ok maybe it wasn't so successful :roll:Like I said the cup can get cocked on the spindle and often get dragged around by the magnet making physical contact. Clearly that's not happened to yours so the other possibility is that if you have been able to tap the shaft through then it is now loose on the cup. The cup spins with the magnet but the needle shaft lags behind. Mine did that too and a drop of Superglue fixed it. This is all from memory and its been a few years since I repaired mine so I'm not sure how the cup is fixed to the shaft.....might be a spline. The other issue with the Veglia is that the odometer and trip drive gear can drop out of its' bearings in what I think is a small casting. It will lift out easily if it's loose. I used some epoxy to fix a piece of steel over the loose end.
