Hi there,
Good news, the speedo work!
Here is what I found:
When you use the E start, the voltage to the speedo go down to 8 volts, result: the speedo go out.
Solution: a separate switch to feed the speedo, you start the engine, when the engine is runing switch the feed to the speedo.
Second problem: I use a sensor with 3 wires, the magneet is in the sensor, so you must use steel stuff to give the pulses, in my case I use the four bolts that hold the rear disk, big mistake, the four bolts have a head for a 17mm wrench, mutch to wide, this give a fals reading, the speedo was working but not accurate.
Solution: put the sensor 5mm backwards so the four bolts dont give any pulses anymore and put one 6mm bolt with a 10mm head.
After you do a drive to set over 1 km, and you know what? the speedo works and very accurate.
I you have a problem with a Smiths speedo, feel free to PM me, I will be more as happy
to try to help you
So long
Yves
