Hi,
I have just taken delivery of a 2015 Cafe racer 961. the bike has been unused for some time and i bought it from the importer her in Australia.

I have a problem with the speedometer, the total km's traveled display resets its self after every ride to 194 km's. so you ride the bike for 10 kms the total ODO reading shows 204 km's turn the bike off and turn it on again and it rads 194km's. also the battery seems to have a constant drain on it which flattens the battery in a couple of days.
Has anyone had this happen? can unit be repaired or is a replacement needed, could this fault be linked to my battery drain problem? I think I remember hearing about this problem elsewhere, but i cant remember the outcome.

Thanks

The unit can be repaired if necessary ,. A member listed a VDO repair shop in the USA. There must be similar places in the UK. If you are handy with a multi meter you can measure the key off current draw on your bike. If the battery goes flat in just a couple days then you have excessive draw. A good bike will be 1 ma or less key off current draw . But if you keep it on a battery tender higher current draws can be lived with . You can measure current to the gauges by pulling the optimate/clocks fuse and placing your current meter in its place for the reading. Some members have reported as high as 19 to 20 ma draw , more are nearer 10 to 11 ma . Like stated earlier , should be 1 ma or less BUT you get the hand dealt to you at the Norton Poker Table.

Is it only the T or Tripometer that resets? My odometer and clock remain ok but the T resets. That happens to mine if the battery is low. Three days off the tender and the digital display freaks out. It freezes on its current screen. If I ride about 10 to 15 miles, it resets to zero. Maybe once or twice on a 50 mile ride. After a good ride and a day or two on the tender, its ok. All this but the bike still fires right up. Could be worse with failure to start far from home.

Maybe you should try and clean/re-seat the connections in the gauges . Maybe its not getting all the available voltage through it ?
