140 bux no rear loop including stock shock mounts, sold by a legitimate bike shop with some assurance that can be registered,

looks like some harley shock mounts were welded up,

also saw one on ebay that went cheap,

even a oif beezer frame with matching # cases for 70 bux

not sure if 7 or 850

i'm thinking of going with a yam 650 (is there a balance factor scenario?) or kaw kz750 dohc counterbalanced engine,

looking for a cradlle & isolastic mounts

I think you paid too much.

The work you'd have to do to mount almost any other engine is hardly worth it, when you could start with that engine's original frame cheaper and easier (almost certainly)

I have a few cradles and swing arms etc. Are you going to the Ontario Norton Owner's Dark Cafe Run in May?

i remember what ashman said about mounting a commando engine in a featherbed frame,

~ "trace out some engine mounts & bolt it up"

dude in quebec was selling 3 complete kz75O twins for 150 bux each, engine choice isn't set in stone, at least a 16" rear is tho, interstate tank & maybe high rider bars, prob see how vetter bags look

not lookin to spend much on a bare frame or worried about originality, rather how cheap to get roadworthy,

there is of course a highly developed xs650 iso mounted yamaton out there, not sure if the kz750 twin would even need the iso rubber mountings seeing as it's counterbalanced

what are the indicators of a 71 frame?

In board pin type side stand mount at the rear of the frame cross rail.
You can possibly see a stamped date on the left side upper "V" frame gusset....

If your frame marking is like mine it should be something like this:
Mine said FR 2/73.
And then my VIN Tag was stamped 3/73.

Looking at you marks I see a /73 at the end.
