Smoke blue

Hello,

Why, when one commando smokes blue, it is very often of the right-hand side, including when the engine was completely reconstructed ?

I can't say I have noticed this to be true but I suppose if the rod bearing clearance was on the large side it could throw more oil on the right than the left due to the feed being on that side.

I do know the left cylinder does tend to run hotter than the right, so maybe piston clearance could play a part. Jim

Now why would that be ?

Wasn't that the reason - way back - that the conrods gained oil squirt holes.
Before they found that it was a "piston design problem".....

The OP here may need to have a close look at some piston rings. ?
Make sure one hasn't been installed upside down.
Or the head isn't porous or cracked, or the head gasket is leaking around the pushrod area.
??
Or the inlet guide is not oiltight in its bore in the head....
