My battery currently is strapped above the cradle on a rubber mat and it gets beat to hell from the vibration and heat. AGMs last less than a year there. I'd like to relocate it underneath my seat, which has a small cutout under the rear hump. That would also clean things up a bit, and I'm really just not happy about how the battery sits out in the open now.

Does anyone know of a good *small* battery that would fit the bill? None of the AGMs I can find locally seem to fit. I removed the electric start, so really just need a battery that can hold decent voltage. I'm not interested in running a battery eliminator...

Cheers,

Jeff -

That looks like what I need, so long as I can orient it sideways. Do you know if it has to stay vertical?

I've got a LiFePO battery in my Commando (not a Shorai, but same technology) and love it. Thing weighhs virtually nothing, takes up very little space, and has plenty of power, plus it has all of the usual advantages of LiFePO batteries in terms of low discharge rate, etc.

We just started to sell Lithium Iron batteries. The battery we tested to use on our starter conversion, weighs 1 lb compared to the stock 11 lbs battery. This 14 AH battery started the engine on our dyno 5 times and ran the engine for a couple of minutes each time. Our dyno does not have a charging system and runs constant loss. After 5 starts the battery only dropped to 60% charge. This battery is so new to us that I have not placed any info. On our site. If interested, contact us off line and I will send pictures and info.
