Hi guys,

I am looking for a slimline rear fender for my '64 G12CSR project (yes, it did use Norton fenders at both ends - mounting holes at the rear differed naturally, and the chaincase bulge / cutout also differed). Thus I am looking for a bare undrilled slimline fender. These are available only from India. (Errata - Autocycle Engineering makes mudguards - enquiry sent.)
Has anyone bought a repop rear mudguard for a Norton featherbed, and how good was it wrt. shape, length and sheet metal thickness? Would you buy again? Was it well packed for shipping overseas?

Thanks for your input.

Have you thought of using an early Commando front guard and turning it round ?

Isn't Frank Westwoth from RealClassic Mag mucking around with one in the March issue?

I just downloaded a digital copy of the March issue. You are right - this is an interesting read! Thanks for the tip-off.
However, Frank W. waffles about in his usual style. It's not like a Popular Mechanics article. Apart from knowing Frank bought a roadster mudguard in error I am not any further. Maybe I should invite Frank W to join forces, having several mudguards of the correct shape fabricated! Frank W is in error on another account as well: The G12CSR is quite a bit rarer than the G15Mk2!

I think I need to call for the assistance of young member "norton_rider". Are you still there? :)

Hi Knut
I bought a front and rear set of mudguards for my 650SS from India, they were horrible, radius was far to big, might have fitted a 21" wheel though.
I rebuilt my original guards and had a club member panel beat them back into shape and they came out like new.

Burgs,

Thanks for your input. That's what I feared. There is an indian shop which claim they do trial fitting of semifinished mudguards. On my request for photos of past deliveries on trial stands they were not willing or able to present any evidence. Thus I remain sceptical.

In the meantime a genuine late G12CSR rear fender turned up on Fleebay. It's chopped at the end, so now I am in need of a 1/3 length slimline rear fender including the flared end. If someone has a beaten fender or rear end laying around he/she would part with, please send me a PM.

See my PM. I have a fender that has been shortened in front. Rear more or less intact except for some extra holes.
