Sleeve gear bush

Isn't the bush in the sleeve gear supposed to sit flush with the gear? This is how it looked like when I took it apart, I'm putting new ones in and I wan't to make it right. And are the 2 bushes supposed to sit tight together towards this end that's on the pic or should they sit one at each end?

Flush or slightly recessed, one at each end. They do tend to walk out with use, which is why they started to make sleeve gears with circlips at each end on the later bikes. loctite is recommended. Also using the later, longer bushes (e-start) is recommended.

+1 on the MrkIII type.
or like the comment above, you can use three with a loose one in the middle.

Ha, then there was not much right with mine, both bushes were tight together at the end that shows in the pic. So there's a long bit towards the clutch that has no bush.... :x I'll order the long ones, thanks for the tip.
