Hi
I am new to the forum having just purchased a 1972 750.
I am currently fitting stainless rims to the bike but on taking the tyres off i see i have inner tubes with patches and they are old. I dont like tubes with patches especially on the front.
Can anyone tell me what size inner tubes i need for the front and back its currently running on 19 inch wheels wm2 rims.
I have also been told with regard to tyre size that if i use a 100/90x 19 on the rear and a 90/90x19 on the front the bike will handle much better any views on this.

a 350/19 tube will work. as to tyre size I prefer the 90/90/19 front as it steers a little quicker than a 100/90 but the larger tyre is a little more stable in a straight line so it depends on your riding style.

The inner tube needs to be the correct size to match the tyre, however most inner tubes are usually suitable for a certain range of tyre widths, so for instance, a Conti E 19 inner tube is suitable for all the following tyres.

3.25/3.50/3.75/4.00/4.10 - 19

MH90 - 19

100/110/120 /90 - 19

110/120/130 /80 - 19

130/70 - 19

A Conti D 19 tube could be used with a 3.60 - 19 tyre.

3.00/3.25/3.60 - 19

90/100 - 19

100/90 /90 - 19

275/300x19 front 325/350x19 rear, it is better to expand a smaller tube rather than create a crease with a larger tube which will become a puncture.

Which is what should happen when the correct size inner tube is fitted-as the tube would usually be a smaller diameter than the inner cross-section of the tyre.
I believe an undersize tube is more likely to split and cause a 'blow-out' if it becomes punctured.

I use Michelin Airstop Butyl INNER TUBES
19MF 1466 19" ROAD 99-327
FOR MOTO TYRES:
3.25-19
90/100-19
110/100-19
100/90-19
110/80-19
120/60-19
They are expensive. $21.50 each from Walridge Motors Under part # TUBE19B. They don't leak (unless you touch it with a Tire spoon while installing). They don't slowly deflate overtime as with some of the discount Oriental rubbers made. You get what you pay for.
