Yep! thanks Ron L.

That is as clear as mud now. I do understand.
No worries, and thank you very much for your extensive knowledge that you have provided.
I am sure more.... Nortoners will value this info.

I would like to shout you a beer! but you live too far away.

Thanks mate.

Brewer.

Brewer,

I checked out my old RITA with the external resistor. The normal power wire on it is black (not white/yellow like I thought). That should teach me not to rely on my memory!
I'm not sure if all the early style are like mine though.

No worries, Ron L.
So basically I ground that black power wire from the box. Then I run a second wire from the coil positive to the power in the norton Harness wire "aka" old ballast conection which is white/blue.

I leave the coil connections untouched, except..... to remove the currently connected positive ground wire. and replace that..... with a second wire which will become the jumper wire for the power as just mentioned before!

And that is it- the lucas Rita is now connected to run on a negative earth?

Mine, does have the external resistor at the back of the Amplifier box. It also has only 1 coil with 2 plug leads.
