I found this interesting and useful. Some of it is relevant to commandos. When I tune my carburetors, I fix two variables - compression ratio and ignition advance, then adjust the jetting. Bob Rosenthal adjusts the jetting using an oxygen probe, then changes the ignition advance until he gets maximum torque.
MotoGP use computers and do it differently.

I don't think an oil isolation valve is the solution
