We see the new Triumphs past through our village square and they look smart and sound right and go like stink.
Tug has like 7000 hp torque on tap eh, so don't miss direct that.

Dang, Macca, that Bonnie looks "right". maybe the only thing I'd change is the infamous "kink" in the pipes, although it harkens to the Commando's early interstate style...

Wow. I missed this when it first went up. This brings back lots of memories.

This is EXACTLY my first bike. In 1968. Fifteen years and two weeks old! I basically lived and slept with it - all day - every day :)

Mine was 1953 and so is this. But is that a 54 front wheel - which mine also had by the way !

Yes sir macca I can feel the thumps pulling eagerly up grades two up. Its a sharp classic looker a real keeper and glad its so pleasing to ride.

Gotta show you mine. Something old and something a bit newer. I have been putting in a lot of seat time on the VFR. It's nice but it is a throw away motorcycle. It will be obsolete when parts become nonexistent. Not so the Norton. Pulled both bikes out of the shop today for pictures. The Norton has sat for two months. Started first kick. It never grows old.

1974 TR5T Triumph Trophy Trail (unrestored)
Has a little over 2200 miles on the clock.
They were only made in 1973 and 1974 with something like 929 built in 74.
Badged as the Trophy Trail (USA) or Adventurer in the UK.

My other 1974 Trophy Trail, these two bikes probably saw each other in 1974 as they are both July built and close in VIN numbers.

This one is being cleaned only cosmetically but is a full mechanical restoration.
Full Martyn Adams unleaded cylinder head conversion.
Kibblewhite valves, springs, titanium retainers and new OEM rockers and shafts.
All new primary including alloy clutch basket with full SRM clutch pack and alloy pressure plate.
Pazon Smart-Fire ignition.
Genuine +0.020 " Hepolite pistons.
Morgo oil pump.
Mikuni carburetor.
etc etc etc

I bought a new TL1000S when they first came out in 97, handled like a bag of shit, did a string line on the wheels and there was a big offset, the dealers excuse was they make them like that to counter the camber in the road, anyway it was a ton of fun , if you havent ridden one of these you should, power is unbelievable, dangerous, I used to manufacture pipes for these and was getting more power on the dyno than same bike fitted with Yoshi's , 240KPH is scary in highway traffic,

I certainly can not complain there, the second TR5T purchase was 'her idea when it came up for sale, two clubs the same is debatable.

Adventure riders in the house ?
Suzuki DR650 purchased new in January 2008.
Simple bike, very capable, good value (until you start down the mod path)
Even better value if buying a already modded one.

I don’t want you to think that I am knocking BMWs, after all, I wouldn’t mind one in my garage, but you did remember to change the 2 piece valves for one piece ones, didn’t you :?:
You think I am kidding :?:
BMW make the tulip, then the stem and weld them together :!:

They only did that with the 800s, early 1980s ?
And discontinued that practice after some 800s reached 100,000 to 150,000 miles - and started dropping valves.
As long as the valve guides are in good condition, no problemo.
But then, WHAMMO BOING BANG WALLOP SQQQWWWAARRRKKK Aaaarrrggghhh.......

Thats why BM valves (one piece ones) are still bloomin $90 each.

Oooooh! Time Warp, let's play! I've always loved these bikes, even being a Norton guy. I've got a 'poor mans' version, alloy tanked XT & TT500's, but would love one of these twins for the fire roads. Whereabouts in Aus are ya, near Adelaide?

Right now I am sitting in a hotel in Perth avoiding Cyclone Narelle (I work on the North West Shelf/oil-gas)
Home is north of Sydney.
The bike in the picture is one of two 1974 TR5T's I have, that one being a original 2200 mile bike, only thing on it that it did not have when it left the factory is the tires.
Every nut, bolt and cable is dare I say it a time warp.
The other TR5T was purchased from South Australia, sold as a original 4800 mile bike in very usable condition but in fact has so much wear in the bore it only just (0.001" to spare) took a 0.020" rebore.
The seller later admitted he knew little about the bike and it was part of a trade but still posted a wishful ( BS) eBay description.
That's the way it goes sometimes.
