Hi All
I read somewhere on the forum that someone had changed/upgraded all the sensors. Can't find it again.
Is there a list obtainable of all the sensors.
What do you upgrade them to.
My commando fumes like a bitch on startup when cold. You can't start it in the shed!!! And I would upgrade all the sensors it it helped the performance of the bike.
The ignition upgrade etc have all been done.
Thanks
Simon

I changed most of the sensors because of an electrical gremlin, but not to update anything. Can't imagine that the fume has to do anything with the sensors, sounds more like oil burning. What about oil consumption?

Nopdog what year is your bike, what color is the smoke. Blue is oil, black is fuel, white is coolant. Don't think yours will be white. How many miles or kilometers?

It's black. 2014 Commando Sport 2500km on clock.
The shed doesn't fill with smoke it more stings the eyes and irritates the throat and after a few minutes you notice it in the air.
Smoke doesn't pour out of the exhausts but on startup when cold you can just see it coming out. So it's more fumes than smoke.
I have completed Richards upgrades (all good)but only put the iridium plugs in the other day and noticed old plugs ok but a little rich and on start up fumes were still present.
I haven't taken bike out for a good spin since cause of other bikes that need to be exercised.
I don't know much about sensors but it seems to me that they control pretty much the whole bikes performance some of my old bikes don't even have an oil pressure switch and thought that maybe better sensors = better performance/reliability. I'm in no way bagging the bike, I'd park in the loungeroom if I could just want it to be the best it can.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Nop what are you running for exhaust and has the bike been remapped? Has it been doing this since new or is it a new occurence?

BP
I bought the bike second hand a few months ago.
Bought from Frasers Sydney. They're the distributors. IT had 1600 km on the clock.
As part of the deal they did a remap (map 100) and the air box drain.
They also said it had the sport pipes on it.
I think it's been doing it since I had it but only noticed when I started it in the shed after doing the throttle stop thing. I usually wheel it out of shed then start.
The sheds 5m X 5m (17ft X 17ft approx) has a solid door only slightly wider than a house door and widows were closed. So I thought it was normal in an enclosed space.

I havent heard of map100 for a 2014

Ive been back and forth with 091 and 077 rev 0116 for the last season and this season. I am sticking with 077. Its better at everything but does take 2 attempts to start.

Hi nopdog

I have a 2014/15 sport and yes it does run very rich when first started up.
I certainly wouldn't run it in enclosed space at any time.

Before the ecu change my bike was hard to start ,run on one cylinder at idle, erratic at lights ,

My bike has just had a upgrade from a SC ecu to a Omex ecu, (Omex is aluminum . SC is black and slimmer)

The maps for the SC are :

077,091 As Richard has mentioned ,

The maps for the Omex are : (As far as im aware )

Commando Stock 6500100
Commando Aftermarket 6500101

Dominator stock 6500102
Dominator Aftermarket 6500103
Dominator Horn 6500104

Glad to chat about bike anytime nopdog

cheers

Thanks Richard
My memory is not what it was.
I think I will check "which new map they put in it" I thought he said 100. (Hearings not what it was either)
So latest map may not be best.

I've got no problems with the bike, pulls like a train, idles fine when hot, is an absolute dream to ride on twisty roads. It's not perfect, what bike is and if it was it wouldn't be worth owning.
Latest bike owned/have is 1982 so don't know much about sensors or maps and welcome any info about them.

Hi Simon,

So fumes not smoke as such?

My bike runs very rich. Have it in a storage place - forget starting it anywhere under cover there.

Runs the best it ever has but certainly rich.

091 is rich. Starts and runs great. Lots of torque. No lack of power. BUT>> against 077 loss of about 2hp and you can get an extra 10miles out of a tank with 077 before the light comes on. 077 is smoother too but just a little bit. At idle 091 is noticeably stinky. I worry most about fowling lambda sensor readings and messing my mixture. Because after a season of 091 i switched to 077 it did take a few hot runs to stop a puff of smoke with a hard exceleration off idle.

I notice same with 091 map and SBN de-catted exhaust while cold idling.
Once at operating temp, no stink while idling.

I'm running map 91 in my 2013. 77 was horrible. 5 attempts to start, no prewarming high idle, had to keep it revved a little just to keep it running. Bad vibes at 4700, stalling when I'd get off the highway, idle at 2200 when hot. With 91, it fires up with NO cranking first, revs and idles at about 2k for 10 - 15 seconds, drops down to 1150. Smoother acceleration, much less vibes, no stalling, stays at 1150 when hot. A pure dream. Using South Bay Norton pipes. About to change to Norton Factory shorties. Hope it stays the same.
