What, in your opinions, is best for polished aluminum? I have used Semichrome and Nevr-Dull in the last and if my memory is correct, I liked the Nevr-dull best.

That was a long time ago so I want to start with an unbiased opinion. The bike will be down for winter projects, gearbox rebuilt breathing/anti-wet sump upgrades, brake MC upgrade, LED lighting, etc..

I'll be doing initial polishing on a soft wheel starting with emory paste and working my way finer.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Don't know those products. I used Autosol from a tube. It was nice and sparkly. After a recommendation, I recently tried Meguiars metal polish in a tub and I think that might be slightly better. Not as abrasive, but if already shiny, it seems to be a notch on vs. Autosol. So Autosol gets used to remove any corrosion, topped off with Meguiars.

Don Pender recommends “california custom purple metal polish” for aluminum , I used it on wheels he built for me and is better than auto sol … this is correct name …..

Years ago a mate of mine had a kwak h1 show bike
He'd never use autolsol he said it was too abrasive on aluminium
He used to use T cut as far as I can remember
He was a bit anal with the bike he used to take the engine out to clean it!
I remember him flying over to denco tuning with the barrels for porting!

I've tried all brands I could buy in the USA since the late 60's and feel nothing beats Semichrome at least in my hands. I think Never-dull is the worst - not abrasive enough, goes along way though and is OK for chrome maybe....

Nothing to polish in red Duke , the GT has chrome fenders & rims , maybe headlight bucket , the Purple polish will last me till the end …. I had tried several brands on the Combat , over the years , the Purple was much better , suppose that why it only polish in Madass shop …. good luck with what ever you choose !

I always wind up back with Simichrome.
However this Royal Purple looks interesting.
Here's a source with a video.

California Custom Purple Metal Polish. Excellent stuff, though I'll use Mothers or Autosol when there's serious stains on the aluminum.

California purple polish for my vintage motorcycle, and vintage South California Purples by Chicago playing while I apply it...

Flitz or Blue Magic paste from tubes then Shine Seal ( formerly Zoop Seal ) . Shine seal is a chemical sealant that you simply wipe on for dull finish ( rough castings ) and wipe on / polish out with the included polish for high finish work . Expensive but it works - I live at the seashore in the the Northeast, the corrosion capital of the universe .
