Yup. I usually stick around to chat, but sometimes just have to be the cold shoulder or I'll never get home. I saw one other 961 in NY other than BritTwit and of course, Richard Peirce. Doubt I'll ever see his again in person unless I stop by Kent for a visit.Nope, you don’t see many out and about at all.
Yes, it’s nice having something a bit exclusive and, like most of us I guess, I like talking motorbikes most of the time, so mosly such ‘attention’ is ok.
I find it gets a bit tiresome at times though, as it can sometimes with old bikes. With the 961 I have started to adopt the tactic I used to use on a Vincent; get togged up and ready several paces away from the bike, then proceed briskly through the crowd, start it and leave, in one swift anti social motion !
Never say Never Curtis , like to do another trip & make more of night on the beach bar on ocean parkway , u of course welcome to Kent & our monthly 961 meets which will become the norm here I hopeYup. Was it on the back of a pickup truck the 2nd time?Went to work this morning , loaded the wagon and off I go . Heading to Preston on the M65 and a 961 coming the opposite way about 0920 . Dinner time ish and heading to St. Helens on the A580 from Manchester and see the same one again .
I had an older guy come right up to the bike, glanced around it and asked 'is it a Triton?' He then went on to tell me all about his Triton riding daysThe bike does get a bit of attention if only for curiosity .........................
I occasionally get from some screwball, " Norton, eh? The Japanese killed them in the 80's" sigh Well now they're back, bitch. Bye.
When folk say that the Japanese killed the Brit bike industry, I always reply “nah, the Brit Bike industry was killing itself long before the Japanese rocked up”!
Yea....well....let's hope history doesn't repeat itself. Does GB produce ANY vehicles without Ford or BMW and/or any other foreign company butting in? Besides Norton, that is. sigh Oh...and NO. Still haven't seen another lately and DO still garner attention from those who haven't seen it yet. Hey Fred (BritTwit), When we riding??When folk say that the Japanese killed the Brit bike industry, I always reply “nah, the Brit Bike industry was killing itself long before the Japanese rocked up”!
