Who sells the best replacement seat foam in the UK? I bought my Interstate seat from Norvil in the 90's, the foam is hard as hell and because it doesn't give, it sort of holds my legs open like an Amsterdam hooker, not much fun at high speeds coz the wind is trying to splay them further apart still. It's an effort to close them up to the tank and it's making for an uncomfortable ride, I promised myself I'll get it sorted this winter, thanks in advance, Paul.

I'd suggest trying RK Leighton in the UK. I've bought a number of seats from them for featherbed Nortons and they've all been very comfortable and fit perfectly. I'd be surprised if they don't do a seat for the Interstate.

All I can say is that my original Roadster seat is completely sacked out, you sink right the seat pan and Im under
9 stone. Bought a new seat complete from AN and must say the foam is, for me, too soft not too hard. Have an
AN Inter seat too and it is much the same.

This is stateside , just an example of 'memory foam'. The soft is very soft.

Just for the reference of anyone interested, I spoke to RKLeighton who can supply an Interstate foam for £52 inc vat and p&p, the chrome vinyl finishing trim is £10.

Are you buying the foam from them? If so, I'd be interested to know what you get, ie is it a proper moulded seat foam or just cut from sheet.

Thats for a purpose replacement foam, he normally carries them but it'll be two weeks wait at the moment. However if I tried reshaping the current foam to something a bit more forgiving I can then send it to him and he'd make a copy. I seem to think just a softer foam would make the seat give a little and be o.k. It's hard as hell compared to the two jap bikes I have in the garage.
Also he said he never supplied Norvil in the 90's and only does one offs for them now, because I did wonder if I was buying the same thing twice but he assures me not.
It's not a 750 seat that I have, it is the one and only available from Norvil back then, the 850 with the squares on the top, is the 750 ribbed seat just a different cover or different seat pan dimensions or would the different cover give a different profile to the same foam, any body know???

Motorson has a nice looking seat on his red interstate on the pictures thread pg37, I might pm him.

I got a seat foam from them for my Atlas and it was a molded foam, correct to match all curves and indentations of the seat pan....+1

I looked into getting foam replacement for my early bike, but never did it. The Leighton people had a replacement at a rather high price but I'm sure it was fine. However, looking at the foam in my old seat it looks like 'rebond' foam which can be had in big chunks for dirt. It's nothing to cut the stuff to your size with a very sharp knife. This is what I would look for, the top left foam in the page. http://www.diymotorcycleseat.com/foam_types.htm

I think Motorsons seat that you refer to is what's know as the 'basket weave' pattern. I think from '73, but hopefully someone more knowledgable will confirm / correct this.

I obtained a flat fairly hard but soft what's known as the 'basket weave' pattern from a local weekly market at a reasonable price ( about £6 ) it’s pretty straightforward to cut with a “bread Knife”
