Hello,
in 1998 i have sold my 850 Commando because I have bought a house. But now i want to buy a new commando.
What would you buy? :?:
A nearly perfekt restored bike
a bike in good condition but not perfekt or
a retauration objekt?
The last Commando was a US Import from Utah. It was not so expensive and so i spend a lot of money for restauration.
I think a commando needs the belt drive kit and the boyer Ignition.

Perhaps someone wants to sell his commando or knows one who wants to sell it, please sent an Email.

Please, excuse my bad english. Ihope it will be soon better.

which Norton to buy

Michael -

Lucky you - with the exchange rate between the US dollar and the Euro, this is a good time for you to pick up a bike in the US.

I went through the same thinking (but i'm in the US), and after a lot of thought and advice, i bought a 1975 Mark III earlier this year. In addition to the various features on this model compared to earlier models (rear disk brake, adjustable isolastics, electric start, etc.) I have other bikes i ride all the time too. I didn't want to have to remember to shift and brake on opposite sides when riding the Norton. So the decision was easy. No regrets.

Good luck! (and no, mine is not for sale).

Hi Keith,
I think that you are right. My other bikes are to shiht on the left and brake on the right.
so I prefer looking for a MK3.

Do you know what the shipping to Germany costs?

shipping a motorcycle from US to Germany

Michael:

As a matter of fact, just over a year ago, I sold my Harley to someone in Amsterdam (not Germany, I know, but see below).

He sent me info about the shipping company so i could prepare paperwork.

I was surprised at how inexpensive it was.

Note: when i bought my Commando this year, I had it shipped halfway across the US and it cost me $500 or more.

see below - maybe this company can ship somewhere close to you?

 Hello Michael,

I've a very good Commando 850 MK3 Roadstar, It rides perfect without smoking and has a new Corbin seat, tires, battery, oil filter and mirrors; the starter motor sometimes work but I'm thinking to modify it into a 4 brush with Accel windings( I've the parts already).
I'like to sell it for the restoring of my Indian-4 costs me a lot of time and money!

I live in the Netherlands near the German border.

Gruesse aus Holland!
