Searching AN - need help

I seem to be clueless when trying to find info here.

Either I get tons of unhelpful hits on just one of the words in the search (like "bearing"),
or
I get: "The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: bearing wheel

This happens in both the quick and advanced search modes.
I have tried putting the search string in quotes, but that does not work either.

Maybe I just found the answer - another way that I had not noticed.
I just tried "wheel bearing" (no quotes) in the 'Google search' box on the upper right of the screen and got good results!
I had never tried that before....

"Bearing wheel" is too common, but "wheel bearing" is cool. WTH? I have found the regular Google search bar is sometimes easier to navigate, rather than while in the AN site.

Your search is pretty straight forward, but if you want to get sharper results try the Boolean operators in your search string, they are AND, NOT, OR & NEAR, they must upper case to be recognized as operators. In your case try this: wheels AND bearings AND "Norton motorcycle"

A Post Script: The Boolean search works best on the web browser level, it will pick off pertinent pages from Access Norton, amongst others.

"Wheel Bearing" did not work in the non-google search. it returns with the words reversed and an error.
Seems like the Google search is the way to go.

Its the only way to go compared to most site search features.
I notice where you had to tick the Google search option before it is now pre selected.

It's funny how finiky these things can be. You'd think it wouldn't care what order the words appear in. You also have to be very careful what you call your web site:

Okay, not quite Norton material, but food for thought nonetheless...
