sealing washers for a balanced MK111 exhaust?

There's no particular problem with the MkIII assembly, as far as I'm concerned.
 
I wished I would bought the MK111 pipes , but because of my ignorance I messed up . I got the spherical washer order cancelled and have some seals coming, # 06-3995
 
I thought MK3 pipes are different in radius due to the primary drive. When correctly fitted the silencers should be parallel to the centre of the bike.

Looks like I'll need another set of pipes!!!! :(


I have non balanced 750 type pipes on my MK111 now , hopefully these pre MK111 pipes will fit.

Yes, there's the chance a pre-Mk3 pipe will foul the primary case.

Well, with the original black cap silencers, yes, probably, but not with peashooters.
 
Anybody looking for a nice set of used 850 non MK111 pipes? :?

I might be selling a set real soon :shock:

Is there no chance that the non MK111 ones will fit?
 
The pipes might fit, but you will need to check the clearances to the side and centre stand, when they are raised.

I meant have you tried offering the pipes up to check if they do actually fit or not-especially on the left side.
 
I'll try to fit them(non MK111 balanced 850 pipes on a MK111) up when I have the seals
 
good news, bad news

good news;
the non MK111 balanced exhaust pipes fit on the MK111 :D

the original bean can mufflers with the balanced pipes are quieter than aftermarket bean can replacements :D

bad news;

the left hand exhaust port threads are weak and are not going to hold , Maybe I can squeak by for the rest of the year with short local trips, but it looks like I need to pull my head.. :?
 
I feel for ya .. gotta pull my MK111 RH 4 head soon too. (smokings). Luckily the RH 10 is ready as direct replacement. As for exhaust , the pipes as they enter the ex. ports are both sitting very high up instead of central but no exh. leakages , so will report back on this wierdness and the sealing rings situation when the time comes. New stock system but for Stainless Bean-cans. Clears the primary drain generously. :)
 
This whole experience was brought about by trying to find out what was vibrating ( had a aftermarket bean can that had a loose baffle)

After I heard the explanation of the "bean can muffler " by muffler inventer , John Favill, at the Norton rally this year and talked to him about them I wanted to try a set. But you have to understand the aftermarket replacements are not built as they should be , according to him. Although to know for sure you would have to cut them apart to see if the were built to spec. The patent does show how they should be built. They have to have the balanced exhaust to work properly. My aftermarket mufflers I bought years ago were just a little shorter. I had to pay a lot for these used , excellent shape original mufflers and they are very hard to find. They have the patent, part numbers and info stamped on the ends of them. I did see a set with the info edged into the chrome on the ends.


Just took the bike out for a short spin, it is quieter ,it seemed smoother ,it did seem stronger and had more bottom torque. Just as he said they should , as he said they made more power than the "pea shooters" they replaced .Maybe John Favill had something. :mrgreen:
