Question in regards to using sealed bearings in place of open ones on Nortons?
What is the experience out there in using dual sided sealed bearings in place of the open bearings in such areas as in the clutch?
Is the internal grease sufficient for such an application. The bearing house wouldn't really say.
Thanks

This is a perfect application for a sealed bearing. Belt drive hubs come with sealed bearings.

Both of my 2 belt drive kits, one from Dreer one from Maney have sealed bearings.

This is a front wheel sealed bearing. It has a plastic sealing cover, I think some are brass or other materials.

Sealed bearing use for clutch?

'Sealed' Bearings are the same as open bearings. If you are the least bit careful, you can remove the 'seal', add a bit of grease to the bearing, and replace the seal. They are only useful if you are using a belt drive or running a dry primary and lubing your primary chain regularly.

Snakepit,

Sorry I do not remember the part number, it was a generic bearing, my local bearing shop had it on the shelf, take the old one to a bearing shop, I'm sure they will be able to help you.
