Same %#*$ brake hub

Well I got the dished retainer washer out and the felt washer, but now I'm looking at what appears to be a flat washer that is bigger than the opening. It will turn but no chance of pulling it out.

What the..............????

Can one of you fellas give me an idea what's going on?

Clean the washer and use two small strips of duck tape.

This is really common. Don't be discouraged. Blast of air, oring picks and if worse comes to worse, drill a small hole and a self tapping screw. It is a $1.60 Item, don't let it beat you.

So I can tell by the responses that the big washer really does lift out?
Coulda sworn it was bigger than the opening.

I had the same problem a while back. Once pvisseriii told me it was OK to distort it, I got it out in minutes. I used a sharp chisel between the washer and the bearing. It made a little groove that allowed me to get a thin screwdriver in there and pop it right out. The washer came out a little warped but I was able to straighten it right out with my bench vise.
It was really simple.
