runs but not long

I am not familiar with the 850 wiring at all, but I would think it would go in series with the coil. If there's a wire that runs from the ignition to the coil, put the 1 Ω resistor in the line to the coil, but then I'm not familiar with the Boyer, it may have to go between the Boyer and the coils? I'm not familiar with the Boyer either. I'm sure someone will know, way too complicated for me. I only have a Pazon and 2 - 6V coils, no ballast.

Good luck

Dave, thanks for the part!!!! I,ll be contacting you. Hershey

Hershey,

It does not matter, as long as the resistor is in series with the coil / coils.

The resistor just increases the resistance of the coil circuit to a value that is acceptable to the Boyer, i.e. it is reducing the current flow through the Boyer.

Voltage = Current (amps) "times" Resistance (ohms), [ voltage is constant in this case, increased resistance will give you a decrease in current ]

Thanks Josh, I,ll splice the resistor in the black wire comming out of the boyer box and going down to the coil. Thanks Hershey

Well, I installed the ballast resistor and the bike did the same thing. I think both black boxes were damaged in trying to sort things out. Does anybody know where I could purchase the Boyer Black Box without buying the whole kit?? Should be alot cheaper that way!!! Thanks for all the help!!!!!! Hershey

Ugh the learning curve balls on Commando after market upgrades. May consider biting the lesion learned bullet on why there are a whole bunch of alternatives to analog Boyer. Have fun talking Boyer sources on a brain box only. Its quite possible and this Boyer can work fine a long time too and put money in gas and oil.

Well, that's for crap. If you can't find the replacement box for a decent price, remember the Pazon, but you will have to buy 2 new coils to the tune of $200 total. I doubt if hobot would recommend it though but I found it an easy install and it works fine for me.

I think I have an extra Mk111 Boyer black box. But need to do a search out in the garage. I have been using a Boyer for 35 years OK but now just purchased a Pazon Altair so bailing on Boyers.

Batrider, That would be great!!! Let me know as soon as possible for I was in the process of buying a new one. Thanks Hershey

Okay Guys, here,s the latest. I ordered a new black box from the Boyer factory in England, 86 bucks with shipping 8) . I installed the unit and have put over a hundred miles on the bike. :D The black box was the problem. Here,s what I think was the problem. The second Boyer kit that I bought was on ebay from a private seller who said that it was never used. Now either I was sold a bad unit by the private seller or the original Accel coil ruined that box the very first time I hooked it up because the bike didn,t run any longer with this box than the original box. Could the original accel coil have done this ?? I guess I,ll never know what happened for sure !! Anyway I,am keeping the new Accel coil and box as a unit. Thanks for all your help, Hershey :D :D
