Hi All.
The rocker spindles have an oil hole.
What is the correct position of the spindle into the rocker/head, where the hole goes?
Thank you.
Ciao

REFITTING ROCKERS. Section 2. From the Mk3 workshop manual.
Engage rocker spindle into the cylinder head with flat facing rearwards on the inlet side and forward on the exhaust side.................

I seem to remember seeing rocker spindles with a simple hole in them rather than a flat. were these genuine ?? And no I aint going up into my cold loft to drag out the box containing a few new ones so as to look.....

Here is a photo I kept on file. Hope this helps.

Hi and thank you.
What can happens if the spindle is mounted on the contrary?
Thank you.

If the oil hole in the spindle is incorrect it will line up with the oil hole in the rocker allowing the oil to flow into and fill up the rocker boxes with the oil getting into your valve guide with the possibility of bad smoking out the exhaust. This happened with my 74 Roadster when I bought it so I just faced the hole outwards as shown in the picture in Travellerjerry's post.

Cheers

Walter
