When I took my 1970 750 motor apart the oil feed lines going to the head had two copper washers one on each side of the banjos. The washers were of various sizes so I guess the PO used whatever he had. I can not find any information in my Norton spare parts book. I went to the local dealer who used to be the Norton dealer in town and he sold me four steel washers. Looking on the Old Britts web site and the photo of their oil lines show a copper washer on the outside and what looks like a steel one on the inside. Should I put it together with the steel ones reuse the old copper ones, they did not leak, or start all over again and go buy a Honda?

If you can't find copper washers I would use aluminum, stat-o-seals or in the least put copper spray on the steel ones. But the steel wont crush and give you a seal at all.

copper was orig on both sides of the banjo bolt.
If your not pressed to put it together by tomorrow I'd get new ones from oldbritts.com
Ella will know what to send you and it will be right and done.
I don't like pushing so I do it right and fortunately have not had to do it again .

Definitely use copper both sides of the banjo's. If you need to re-use the originals anneal them first, just heat to cherry red then quench in cold water,
Dave.

I believe Old Brits was recommending copper on one side and aluminum, not steel on the other. Originally they were copper on both sides.
