RITA question

I found an old RITA in my parts bin that I must've picked up years ago. I'm upgrading to Dave's starter and was going to fit the RITA. Is there any way to tell if the RITA is working other than fitting it to the bike and trying it?

I can put $300 elsewhere in my bike if I can use the RITA to replace the Boyer analog currently fitted.

PS. Stupid question. Did the stock 1975 MKIII come with 12V coils or 6V coils?

Google it.There's troubleshooting info out there for the different amplifiers.

I would give the RITA a floatation test.(I had one that left me on the side of the road once)

Buy one of the new versions of the Tri spark and fit that.
I have also just fitted one of Daves Starters to my MK3, this combined with his nice cables,a new Dekka battery and the Trispark the bike starts first stab of the button.
With bad knees it is a nice thing to have the starter that works .

Yeah....looking at Tri_Spark and Pazon......SPARX is half the price. Anyone have experience with SPARX and the electric start voltage drop issue?

You can check the amplifier by just hooking up on your bench the amp, pick-up, coils, spark plugs and a 12V battery as per wiring diagram, including "earthing" the spark plugs.
The amp is ok if the plugs produce a spark when interrupting the supply.

IMHO the sparks EI is not worth the cost of box it is in. as they say you get what you pay for

Have been through 2 Sparx units, the 2nd did not last 6 months. Junk. Both showed same failures: bike would start when cold but after warmup would backfire and stop running. When trying to restart would kick back fiercely.

Going with Tri-Spark for this go around.
