rim band or duct tape?

Rim bands are good, only if they're quality, they offer good protection from the spoke ends. But I can't tell you many times we found dried out, covered in rust rim bands on customers wheels. And they're often skewed to one side leaving the spoke ends exposed, possibly from all the twisting and pulling during initial tube and tyre fitting.
On my dirt bikes I use good thick rim bands then a couple layers of duct tape to hold it in place and seal it from moisture, ain't nothing metho spirits can't clean off in a couple minutes. Always in perfect nick when I examine it during a tyre change, probably don't even need to change the duct tape but I do anyway just to make sure everything's fine underneath.

I agree 100% with wolfie - rim bands. Electrical tape does get messy and slides around. This is 3M good tape too.

I've used PVC electrical tape for too many years now on road and motocross including a few works machines, and never not ever has the tape moved went messy or refused to come off. But bands will move and have caused blow outs. End of the day you make your choice.

Rim bands, on all wheel types. I have read about people using tape instead of rim bands and the sealing they provide keeps moisture in and makes the spokes and rims rust, alloy rims don`t fare any better, they corrode as well.
