I have a Norton RH6 head with TURNER stamped in the top. Anyone have any idea what it means?

A Mr Turner has been there before you ?

Difficult to imagine its factory, if you can find the previous history of your bike may show something...

And yet the stamping looks curiously identical to "R 6".

It's possible that the stamping is the name of the person that owned the head. Sometimes when I send engine parts out for machine work,I will stamp them with some identifying markings to ensure that my part is returned to me and not someone else's. I have used my drivers license number or engine number as well.

That's what I was thinking. Wanted to make sure it wasn't some head specialist back in the day or something.
