Does anybody repair Amal MkI's where I can still leave the orig. choke set up for aestitics?
AMR bores body but states you can not use choke set up after upgrade.
Thanks,
Marshal

Bruce Chessell does. Brass sleeve, chokes still available. That's one reason I didn't go with AMR. Around here I need the chokes for that morning startup 9 months out of the year.

Lund bores the body, uses a steel sleeve and the choke slide remains functional.

I see the Amal now offers a chromed brass slide as a replacement part that could be used if the bore is not worn out.

Thanks Debby/Russ,
I want to keep it orig.
I'll contact Andy at Lund and Bruce at Chessel.
I hope Bruces' wife is feeling better?
I recall in June this year he was taking limited work.

I used Lund when I had mine sleeved, that was about 10 yrs ago. My bike NEEDS the choke when cold.

1. No one would be wiser if choke cable ended w/o a choke on end.
2. BEWARE the chrome slides, they may have a new batch but historically even vendors talked me out of them d/t chrome flakes ingested about universally.
3. Sleeving should fix it but some have beat throats and slide bores back to round on wooden dowels.

I sent my 932 bodies w/ slides to Lund Machine Co.
Andy personally answered the phone.
I like that kind of hands on attention.
My one slide was sticking in the body but I din't notice it when the
spring was attached.
Both carbs have close to 10,000 miles on them and the slides were scored badly.
Piss poor pot metal design but I want to keep the appearance orig.
Andy said I could get about three rebuilds out of a 932 body depending how bad the bore was to start with.
He has not had any rebores back worn out due to mileage.
I'll report back upon receiving same back :)
