Requesting all unwanted AAU parts

Ping me to pay for sending spare AAU components my way please.

I got spare AA units from RGM, paid 15 GBP per unit. They have many units removed when they perform Boyer installations.
Maybe Old Britts and other dealers have too :?:

My friend who is doing the AA unit mods has a box full of Boyer systems removed when people upgrade back to the modified AAU system

Ok good point on where to hunt for cheap and the joys of being rid of Boyer lets down for better pick up AAU's, long as they may last.
MAP offered me one for $25 but didn't know condition or as much on what can be done with them till this post educated me way more. I decided to quit riding Trixie much till INOA rally as her AAU is making return to idle an issue again and almost Tee Boned a PU and deer don't even look up by the wimpy horn, so must roll pretty close and bark peashooters to chase em out of path before I get in striking range. One issue with dumb deer is they will hit trees and fences and each other then bounce right back into path by time I'm in the way.

I think a couple of modifies AAU's might do me rest of life time...

The return to idle was the reason I dumped mechanical advance. I took it out at about 6000 miles -- was going bad at more like 2000. Mine was very worn (pegs and slots) and notchy feeling. Lubrication does nothing to stop the pounding and elongation of the slots. I sure would not pay money for a used one (or even a new one). Not that there is anything wrong with trying to fix them...

First off ya got to realize that since cars got so cheap and efficient any motorcycle over 250 cc is just pure illogical emotional luxury item to entertain and test mental and mechanical distractions. In otherwords there is no hope of logic to change my mind to try to have enough AAU's on hand to last Trixie and me lifetimes, which I'm been dramatically reminded could be very next ride.
Don't forget there is a Ms Peel in my male womb that I'm building up to defy all logic on what is Norton and what it means to change direction fast as a dragster.

Most Lucas AAU units are completely worn out now, and like Amal carbs werent that great even when new! It might be worth looking at old Honda twin AAU units, which might be possible to modify? One of these in conjunction with an electronic box which uses the points simply as a trigger, and means burning and sparking is eliminated completely, should result in a very good system, which is likely to work better than most electronic ones, and can be easily repaired if needs be.

I'm leaving Norton parts behind on Ms Peel but Trixie is meant to stay stock while with me, partly as atonement for Ms Peel deviations. The transistor points relief will be attempted someday. I located a NOS AAU for $185 plus shipping as last resort. Have a few used private spares on the way and only called one vendor so far. Its been awhile but hobot has pestered the whole world of vendors a few times around so will be fun going down list with interesting people and new insights from each one.

If I donate my AAU what is the outcome? Do I get a rebuilt one and how much is this going to cost, how long will it take? I'm sure no one wants to do all this for free? I could have someone local do the work for me, and most likely I can find a antique car 'friend' who has a small machine that would be willing to do the machining for some trading instead of having to go to a commercial shop that will cost mega bucks. I think this is a great idea, but how many of us are out there that want an AAU and want to deal with the transistor ignition?

Yeah all like ya say but first need a stock pile then list of corrections and mods and see what's involved, but mostly expecting to get AAUs form those who never want to see em again, not us few who want one or more for ever more, then we die and they can do what they like w/o us. When I put the problematic Pazion in I thought I'd lost the video opportunity to get after dark light show, will try it tonight and post for old time sake entrainment.
