Brought some replacement levers for my SF. Looked on the forum and it says the DB-12 and DC-12 fit. They do fit, but I found the clutch lever didn't have the extra metal protruding underneath to activate the clutch switch.

Anyone else found this?

I like the levers so will bypass the clutch switch unless anyone knows if there is another part number for the clutch lever?

The extra billet aluminum levers that came With my Dominator Naked uses a dowel pin that you have to insert to use and make contact with the switch.

They are levers for Brembo brake master cylinders and are commercial, they are not Norton specific. They are mounted on many other bicycles, so try looking in the Brembo catalog

Thanks voodooo

That's given me something to think about. There is no metal strip on my SF that your dowel pin makes contact with. It's a poor design on the SF. Very much looks like an afterthought.

Blightybrit showed some pictures on one of his posts. The switch looks like it should be mounted on something, but isn't.

I also have a 2016 SF Commando. And like yours it has the casted aluminum finger on the stock levers.
Thanks voodooo

I don’t see how the Brembo master cylinders and levers on the commando are a poor design or afterthought.
I have a SF Commando as well and they do exactly what their designed to do.

Ill agree the levers are basic and nothing special, but you can’t blame the stock levers or design because the new levers you have don’t fit. The ones to blame are the manufacturers of the new levers, or the ones who told you they’ll work on a modern Commando.

I don't see the levers as a poor design, but the switch. It is not very sturdy. It has a thread that makes me think it should be screwed into a housing which would hold it in place.

I'm not that bothered about having to bypass the switch. I don't need it, but do wonder about the relay being permanently on while ignition is on and whether that will cause it to fail early so if I can find the correct lever I'd prefer to fit it. Doesn't look like part number is known though.

Exactly what brand of levers do you now have?

I got Bad Dog levers.
BikerBore,
I put ASV Shorty levers on my 2014 Commando. One of my other bikes has the same brake set up as the Commando (not exclusive to Norton) so I ordered levers to fit the other bike. The levers fit great, operate fine and look great. Most aftermarket suppliers don't make parts that they list as fitting a Norton, but there are plenty of parts that work and look better. I've changed the levers, grips, mirrors and risers with quality parts, none of which were Norton specific. Good luck.

It was a post on this site that said DB-12 and DC-12 fit. They also fit some Ducatis. That's what I brought and they do fit, just don't work the clutch switch.

So what was your other bike?

That explains why you’re having problems.
You have the wrong levers.
again, not Brembos or Norton’s fault.
I know I have the wrong levers, well clutch lever, that's why I posted to see if anyone knew the part number.

I think the clutch switch used on the Sport/SF and the bracket to hold it in place is a poor design. Doesn't matter what lever i have on, in my opinion it's a poor design.

BikerBore,
The ASV levers are for a lot of different bikes, but the design of one of my Ducati's is the same as the Norton. I got levers for a 1995 Ducati SSCR and they have an aluminum bracket for the clutch switch that bolts on with an allen bolt. You can order different anodized finishes for the levers and adjustment wheels and different lengths for the levers. No doubt other manufacturers offer the same but I've got this type on other bikes and it suits my needs. Right now I don't have a part number but I can get it if you can't.

It’s not a poor design just because your cheap, incorrect, levers don’t fit.
