Replacement headlamp lens in NZ

In the process of doing some renovations on my US Mk2 to get it VIN'd here in NZ, and need a replacement for my LHD 54522680 lens. I was looking for a RHD halogen 54526114 unit, but the only ones I could find online were with Mick Hemmings in the UK, and none too cheap.

After a while of Googling, an option may be the Wipac Quadtronic, which I may be able to find locally for not so dear (hopefully). Any opinions on how these fit/function?

Any other suggestions from the NZ contingents?
 
Go to Repco and get a Wagner or a Hella H4 unit. Get the blue light H4 bulb as well. Fit heavier wires to both power [ through another fuse ] and earth from the battery to 2 relays in the headlamp and you will end up with better lights than a later model Motoguzzi. [ admitted by said rider of the guzzi ]. doing it through relays puts the power direct to the lamp and not through the P.O.D. switches.

In Norton owners language here in Godzown, P.O.D stands for Joseph Lucas, Prince of Darkness.

If you are happy with candles, then forget the wires and relays.
 
Yes they both do. These lights are ok, but I have been looking for better ones that put more light forwards. I can see clearly the eyes of the pesky possums up in the trees with both of these units. I 'm sure some of the problem is due to 62 yr old eyes though, but what the hell. I f I cant see round the corners at night I just have to slow down. Are you a club member?
 
Yup, just joined a couple of months ago.

I was wondering about how they put light out, as I have read online about the Wipac ones being good, but not real good. I suppose since I have to do it, beggars cant be choosers, but if the stock halogen units were notably better or there was another that was, I would go for that.
 
I got a reflector and bulb here for the TR5T and also the modern 7 in Lucas versions off eBay.
How does the dip (left or right) work,is it something in the glass ????

Yes, in the glass - andI want something brighter than the prefocus glass.

Why not buy a Wipac one and see. Do the other mods then you can compare them to mine., There is not much difference between the performance of the Hella or the Wagner. The Hella I think looks better as the Wagner sits out of the rim by approx. 12mm whereas the Hella is practically flush with the rim.
What kind of rear chain are you using.
 
I'm curious to know how much it cost landed here. both my bike have got new chains on but no backup now.
