As some of you may have read, my original 1969 Fiberglass tank had started dissolving causing my throttle to stick open and filling my head and vales with burnt Fiberglass.

Original Thread; continual-acceleration-t17117.html

After much discussion and shopping I decided to order a new alcohol resistant Fiberglass Tank from Greg Fauth, aka Norbsa. The new tank is fantastic. Greg did a great job of building an exact replacement of my '69 tank. The shape is exact and the quality is top notch, built very well. No leaks and the paint and decals we right on the money and matched up with the tail perfectly. Fits perfect and looks the business.

I'm really glad I got with Greg on this and am really happy about the final product. Quick turn around and really great communication. Here are a couple pictures of the new tank.

If you need a replacement tank as i did Greg's email is norbsa@hotmail.com. His webpage is http://decentcycles.com

Thanks!

Looks great; whether it will actually resist alcohol only time will tell. But FWIW, I bought a new FG fastback tank from Burton Bike Bits four years ago that per them was made with alcohol resistant resin and it's been solid as a rock so far. Even though they said it was not required, I Caswell-treated the tank before installing it, just because it made me feel better. There is no sign (yet) of any degradation. I have no idea how long it takes to be sure there is no problem. But maybe alcohol resistant tanks are as stated, "resistant," not "proof." In that case, maybe they all will fail at some point. The problem with any claims about product life is that until enough units actually get substantial age, it's all just speculation (and hope). ;)

Thanks for this Joe lots of time and effort to get this right for 68-70 owners Joe's had to be filled in at the badges. When we cut into Joe's old tank for it's cap spigout we found what we often find Caswell hard as glass and shattered. There are ways of lining but sloshing is not it. Over time this tank must be shaken very hard and still work.Anyone who has done this work knows it don't come easy just happy to offer this as a service among many others.

can you also provide a fiberglass replacement tank for the roadster style?

The tank looks fabulous.

I see the cap hinge is to the front and I assume that is where the original tank had it.
Although maybe not an exact replica did you consider having the hinge in the back like later tanks, which is done to prevent the possibility of being castrated in an accident?

As per customer request as you say making it as it was. We are always looking for fallen tanks that will give forth thier cap and or spigout. This makes it posible to get a head start on the next tank.
