The 35 dollar discs are for Subarus, not Commandos. Just be glad you live somewhere that still has reputable machine shops!

Yeah, I guess I should have pointed that out. Low volume production = high cost per unit.

Wow, 8 hours of turning time - at $100.00 per hour -those are some mighty pricy rotors. :D

Off the main topic but, automotive disc prices have come down heaps, but as of yet I havn't been able to buy a set that after a few good hard brakings hasn't started pulsing, after running for awhile they seem to stay true after being remachined, the worst ones were a set of drums for my land rover, I think they were made in India, felt like they were square after a couple of months. I don't believe they are heat treated and stabilized properly

All true. A breath of aftermarket fresh air I've found are the Meyle Platinum rotors, quality priced reasonably. http://www.meyle.com/EN/Spare-parts/Passenger-cars.html

In one of my jobs we developed the technique for hard chrome plating the bores of 5 inch gun barrels. reverse etch at 200 amp/sq ft in dilute caustc soda soltion will remove chrome. Take it to your local hard chrome plating shop, or buy the correct pads. I replaced my chromed suzuki disc with two high speed steel items and used asbestos pads in two AP calipers.

I have the original chrome on, I up rated my master cylinder to 1/2" and the brakes are great.

Cheers Richard

P.S. brakes squeal though!

I put AP Racing pads from Commando Specialties on and they bite so well into the chrome that I can leave it alone.

Are you referring to the Ferodo Platinums?

No they were advertised as AP's and that was on the package.
I have CommandoSpecialties receipt from July, 2011. $44.95 plus shipping.
"AP Racing #230605169138"
If they aren't shown on their web site you may want to contact them directly.
