I know I can look up older cars by their VIN and it will tell me about the bike and whatnot,I was wondering if there was something like this for Norton? I'd love to look up the ole' Norton.I did try and search but no luck. The Norton is a 1 owner 72'Combat Commando. It has the original FB tank and FB side covers on both sides. Dunstall DB silencers,Boyer, copper base gasket
In 2001 the bike was completely gone through, It has been sitting dry (no oil or gas) Since then..Its my fathers bike and hes been threatening to sell it. I've been explaining to him how important this bike is to the family.I think he's just discouraged cause he can't start it anymore. I'm 27 and I know I'm capable of starting it even though Ive had numerous right knee surgeries. I think tomorrow I'll push it out and clean it up. Florida is not a nice place to live id you wanna try and preserve anything. I'm 20 min west of Daytona Beach so needless to say the aluminum could use a fresh polish. Hopefully this time when he see's it he'll smile. last time I cleaned it he told me not to touch it lol. If he wanted it shiny he'd clean it..lol I know my dad, He's the type to keep a bottle of windex in the hotrod.....
Tomorrow I'll upload some pics for ya!

The Norton Owners Club own a copy of the factory records, and if you are a member, or for a fee can look up the numbers and see if it is in their records (not all are). Since the basic bikes underneath are all the same though, it may not actually say what model it was built as though.
There are lists of what numbers are in what year if you hunt around.

Look forward to the pics.

Get the number off the headstock and engine/gearbox too. We can narrow it down a bit.

We always like pictures, welcome.

Unfortunately the information given in the Norvil list is so incomplete that it is actually misleading!

Certain models aren't even listed-and it doesn't really show anything more than the approximate year a particular Commando would have been built.
