Hello
I see where the INOA tech notes mention using red loctite on the valve guides when installing them.
Was wondering how that worked if you are installing the guides in a head that is heated up to allow installation of the valve guide.
Has anyone done this?
Con's against it?

Thanks in advance

I've never heard of that. I guess if there is a fitting issue then it may be a bandaid engineering solution. If such a thing is needed then I will always be nervous as to the dependability of the system.

Proper fit is key. Oversize guides are available for this reason.

If all is well with your guide bore then follow standard installation procedure and leave the red stuff for more applicable situations.

That being said, I cannot think of issues ((off hand)no absolutes here)) that i needed red loctite where it wasn't necessary to go right to JB weld.

The factory did use Loctite on the 850 valve guides-apparently.

Red loosens up at high temps. I'm surprised the valve guides don't get hot enough to make it irrelevant?

The stuff sure has some ooommph, though. I just had to pull the engine sprocket on my wife's HD. Took a bit of a turn with the old heat gun before even the impact wrench would loosen that pup.

I have temporarilly cured loose intake guides with GREEN Loctite - it's made to flow into very tight fitting assemblies.
