RED Kote

Braize the holes and redkote. Problem solved...Yellow 750 in my sig pic was welded and redkoted 10 years ago, still holds fuel.

redkote fixed the first leak then second one developed ..it keeps a 1/2" place on lower left hand seam damp with gas but as I said I am glad I have not invested $$ in paint til I get this sieve sorted..

here's more followup on my sieve-like CS tank....even with redkote another seam leak developed ..I guess I will see if local radiator place can boil redkote out and start over and braze the entire seam...…...I have wasted $250 on this can and redkote which I applied as carefully as possible ,I got what I paid for I guess...…perhaps I should make a mailbox out of it..again, glad I didn't spend $$$ on paint job

Well that sucks, I must say. What does CS have to say about it?

got from their ebay site...14 day return I bought it late last year only finished bike a month ago...as far as claim to be pressure tested and bike fitted it was still wrapped in oily plastic and foam in box when arrived and the inner tunnel rattles against head steady brackets..basically I hate it

no I should not have to it should have been right from the start . buyer beware

Well yes, of course you are right.

But any trader can get a bad part from a supplier on occasions. Happens to the best.

IMHO, is not good form to slate them publicly without at least giving them a chance to rectify the situation.

For all you know, they may have just exchanged it straight away and saved you a load of work!?

Agree completely.

I am very aggravated and not in a diplomatic mood regarding this situation.if part bad from supplier..then claim of 'pressure tested and tested on bike' should have caught it...….as tank arrived I saw no evidence of either...…….in fact the more I think on it tomorrow I plan to remove this mistake and take a sledge hammer to it.

I would try politely letting them know about the problem first.
You might be pleasantly surprised at the outcome.
For example - I replaced some original looking cracked rubber BSA fork gaiters a couple of years ago. I asked Mike Partridge at Walridge if he had any gaiters made of durable rubber ( we discussed the poor quality of most replacement rubber) and he said he thought he had stock of some quality gaiters.
I bought and fitted them.
They fell apart in two years so I contacted him to see if he had another brand to try and to let him know about the problem.
He did have another type so I ordered those. I didn't mind paying for them as the rubber problem is everywhere, but he insisted on sending them to me free of charge.
So you never know, but one thing is for sure- the supplier cannot fix your problem if you don't let them know about it.

I feel for you and have felt the same. Please post pictures or video of the sledge hammer work/results. If they are any good, I'll pay for the postage to return the POS to CS.
We can discuss diplomacy later...

Naturally, we all regard the hallmark of a good supplier as being their high quality offerings. This alone narrows the list considerably.

And whilst the above is true, the REAL hallmark of a good supplier is how they support their customers in times of issues.
This narrows the list a lot more!

as I stated but you refused to listen and as others stated you refused to contact the seller. instead you took the route of a piss poor bodge with a slosh in joke. IMHO the only one you should be mad with is yourself.

no way no how would i use ANY slosh in tank sealer in a new tank. spend the time/money to either have the vendor replace it with one suitable or fix it properly. there is NO permanent tank sealer for the fuel we are forced to use.

i am...i apologize for my rant....was frustrated and tired.. am going to beach for a few days for a much needed vacation will revisit this subject in a calmer and saner way when I get back hopefully some time/distance from home/work/ toy problems will calm my crazy ass down....sorry again.

this is the final installment in this nightmare...…….took tank to local radiator shop they put in acid bath and got the redkote out and silver soldered the seam...tank sprung 2 more leaks under pressure...but...…..when I went to get it the thing had two big dents. one in front and one at rear..shop owner said he didn't know how they got there (must have been fairies) he said bondo would fix...also tank was splayed out and bulged like balloon....he said I owed $100 for the repair.....I lost it....flew into frustrated rage and slammed tank on shop floor..twice...lesson learned...don't try to skimp a few bucks on tank..get more expensive better one to start with....end of story.

Sorry you had to go through this ridiculous saga Alan , pleased to hear the tank hit shop floor and not shop keeper .... Christmas is not far away and maybe Santa can make things a little bit right concerning your fuel tank ... FWIW I still use the original F/G tank bike came with , even had it painted a few years back .... one advantage living in the hinterland is no ethanol around these parts ,yet .... take a few days to relax and formulate your next plan of action .... one of my faves , wife calls it sitting and doing nothing .....
