Rebuilt gearbox tight?

I finally managed to get my gearbox back together this w/e, only trouble is, it's pretty tight when selecting the gears. Is that pretty normal? I should add that it's got all new internals apart from the camplate and quadrant. I can put a spanner on the camplate nut and with a fair bit of wiggling get up and down through the gears. The camplate isn't worn + the timing is correct, so I can only guess it all needs to bed in?

As a comparison I loaded all the worn out shaft/gears into the other shell, it's smooth as snake sh*t by comparison.

Did you oil all the shafts / bushes / bearings , during assembly .

Otherwise a ' NEW ' gearbox is normally tight . And takes 1.000 miles odd , to ' free off ' in all respects .
Dunno if this applies to mass produced rice burners . :mrgreen:

Hi, did you check the fork moved easily on their spindle? and if the (two) splined gears did the same on their shafts, just cause it happens you need to deburr the shaft or the gears to get that sweet translation, otherwise you will get a better feeling with the gear selector instead of the spanner on the quadrant/camplate bolts.....and then it need to bed in....unless something wrong!
