2016 Mk11 fitted with pillion seat. I was told some time back by Norton that the shocks fitted to the pillion option bike are some what harder than the solo option.

I was trying to soften the ride when riding solo but even with the shock adjustment turned down it can still be a touch hard.

I have contacted the factory asking for details but to no avail so far and wonder if anyone else can confirm this and or have an alternate remedy as I'm loosing all my fillings.

Thanks

Mark.

When there are two people aboard does the ride get better ? If so then you may need to change to a lighter spring. But if the ride gets worse , harsh and jolting then go the other way and try adding more pre load , decrease the compression damping to minimum and increase the rebound damping 2 or 3 clicks.

Two up riding is soft enough with everything wound out. But as I say still a bit stiff when solo riding. I will look into a softer spring.
Thanks.

I enquired about the rear shocks at the factory as I have a MK 2 dual seat, the rear shock spring number on my bike is 0048-03-L0715. According to Marc at the factory the lighter spring has 02 in the serial number. I might get a couple to try out. I have wound out the suspension front and back but must admit the suspension still feels a bit stiff.

Dodgy Den.

You need to follow the norton manual on suspension set up. Its more than just turning that spring rate dial. Also have to adjust the shock. And front suspension plays key to overall. The stock suspension is rated for 200lbs or something like this. So its harder than most need. Then a dual seat even worse. Buy the manual. Read. Get two friends and adjust away. Ps. You need a nice tape measure.
